University Trading Challenge 2013-2014:
Rules



Summary

Directa organizes the 4th edition of the International University Trading Challenge.
The competition gives students the opportunity to trade on-line on financial markets.

Teams can apply starting on September 9th until December 13th 2013.
The competition will start on October 30th 2013 and it will end at 12 noon on May 9th 2014.

It is open to students born after 31 December 1985 and attending any a degree course at any European University faculty or equivalent school at University level. Each faculty or school may only participate with one team.

Each team will be provided - free of charge - with Darwin, the Directa trading platform; Visual Trader, the technical analysis software and 5,000 euros in real money, which thanks to leverage will allow each team to invest up to 25,000 euros in European Blue Chips.

At the end of the competition, net gains (after commissions and taxes) will be divided among the winning team members, whereas any losses will be borne by Directa. Neither deposits nor withdrawals on participating trading account will be allowed until the end of the Championship.
Loss of at least 40% of the initial capital will result in a suspension of the Team from the competition.

The winner of the University Trading Challenge will be the team that will achieve the best performance at the end of the competition.

Directa will also award the reference tutor of the winning team the sum of 20,000 euros for either educational or research projects.

A tutor will be appointed for each team to act as an interface between Directa and the faculty/school involved (for more details see below the paragraph "Tutor's tasks").

University Trading Championship 2013 edition Regulation

Team formation

The competition is open to students born after 31 December 1985 and attending any degree course at any European University faculty or equivalent school at University level. Each faculty or school may only participate with one team of 3 to 5 members.

A tutor will be appointed for each faculty/school to act as an interface between Directa and the faculty/school involved.
Students that wish to participate should contact their faculty's reference tutor, who will provide Directa with a list of actual team members.

Please note: students who took part in previous editions of this competition are not eligible.

Registration

The application form should be completed in every part, signed by the Reference Tutor and sent via regular mail to:

Included with the application form, a clearly legible photocopy ID, the tax code of every team member should be sent.
The team leader should also fill and the registration form to open a Directa trading account.

Directa will accept Teams registration until December 13th 2013, even after the competition has started, under the condition that the Team Leader has subscribed the agreement with Directa to open a trading account in the Team Leader's name where Directa's funds to participate will be credited.

Team's name

Every team should indicate a Team Name, they will use to participate to the competition. Directa reserves itself the right to change it where it should be considered inappropriate or already in use.

Championship Operating Procedure

Tradable Markets

Trade operations may be placed on every market available through Directa.

Winner Announcement

At the championship end, after all position are closed, the winning team will be the one with the higher balance on the trading account.

The contingent Profit made, after commissions, will be given to the Team Leader (the trading account holder).

Along the championship development, Directa may organize award ceremonies and give prizes at its discretion.

Research Funding

Directa will also award the reference tutor of the winning team the
sum of 20,000 euros in order to finance educational and/or research
projects.

Participants Good Faith

Participants are bound to behave in a correct manner and good faith, adhering to and following the regulator and surveillance authorities legislation and rules of the traded markets and the Directa contractual obligations.

Account Closing procedure

The final balance of the Team's account will remain under Directa ownership up to € 5,000. The exceeding amount will be wired to the Team Leader (as the person in whose name the trading account was opened) on the bank account indicated in the Directa Agreement. Whereas the final balance will be lower than € 5,000, the corresponding loss will be borne by Directa

Standings announcement

Along the Championship development the partial standings will be updated weekly with the last Friday data. Whereas some position could result still open at that moment, the portfolio will be evaluated at the same day market closing price.
The partial standings will be published on the website www.unichallenge.eu and announced to the media every week of the Championship development.
By signing the championship agreement, participants authorize Directa to publish and to divulge to third parties their identities and a synthesis of the trading operations occurred and the ongoing performance. All the information might also be published on the website www.unichallenge.eu together with the description of the trading operations.

Organizing Committee

Directa SIM will monitor the Championship development and its compliance to the laws, rules and regulations. For this reason Directa reserves itself the opportunity to commit penalties and fines when needed, Directa will eventually decide to disqualify and it will announce the Championship winner.

Complaints

Along the Championship development every participant may present a written complaint to Directa for every irregularity or problem that might result in an unfair damage of their position. All complains should be sent by email to unitrader@directa.com within 5 days after the Championship end. Directa will evaluate all the complains received before the winner will be announced and will reply to each one.

Modifications and Exceptions

In order to guarantee a successful championship, Directa may vary the present rules even during the ongoing championship.

Jurisdiction

The court of Torino - Italy- shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes relating to the terms and conditions mentioned above.
